BOMB BUDDIES

Summary

A 2-player co-op AR party game made in Unity where you face off against a devious hacker!

I was a Game Designer and Narrative Designer on Bomb Buddies, connecting the design and narrative teams with a heavy emphasis on systems, sequencing, and documentation.

My Work

  • Designed and documented 6 core microgames on a team of 40+ with 3 other designers.

  • Created user interface wireframes and state flows for all microgames.

  • Researched AR and phone affordances including point clouds, face tracking, hand tracking, AR projection, microphone input, light sensors, and gyroscopes.

  • Ran playtests to test affordance prototypes and gather usability feedback.

  • Wrote full narrative sequence as a screenplay and line sheet, including interstitial dialogues with The Hacker, a comedic villain. Revised for party-game pacing regularly.

  • Directed voice actor in the booth, implementing VO and returning for pickups.

  • Regularly coordinated audio, art, and engineering teams to implement microgames.

Results

  • A full release on the App Store.

  • Some crazy rounds of Bomb Squad at USC Games Expo 2023.

  • A party game my mom can play.
