NETEASE GAMES INTERNSHIP:
EGGY PARTY
Summary
Level design, engine research, promotion, and community work for Eggy Party following its regional launch in the US. Eggy Studio at NetEase comprises a team of ~400 developers collaborating worldwide.
I was a Map Design Intern at NetEase in the summer of 2024, and made compelling levels for players in Eggy Workshop across several genres with a throughline of physical comedy.
My Work
Map codes are included below.
Created 15 bi-weekly levels as well as trailers and and tutorial content targeting a US audience for Eggy Party, supporting events, showcases and more across 5 battle pass seasons.
Some of my best level work includes:
Eggsorcists Series - 143736 - 25k+ plays each - Multiplayer co-op PvE shooter maps inspired by Ghostbusters, featuring boss fights and environments based on scenes from the movie.
Dungeon Eggy - 980808 - 20k+ plays - Multiplayer action-RPG dungeon with multiple paths and hidden areas, 3 companion characters, a boss fight, original skills with upgrade paths, and 5 enemy types.
Fight the Principal - 299110 - 20k+ plays - Single-player platformer stage with a boss fight finale.
Contributed to weekly design standups, presented level content and proposals to a multidisciplinary team of mentors, and reviewed level and social media metrics.
Ran playtests with target players for level content and game interface.
Collected feedback on US marketing efforts and IP collaborations.
Gave usability feedback for a custom level editor, including bugs, interface usability, and translation.
Created tutorial and documentation content and mentored other map creators, supporting an international community of over 40 million DAU.
Results
A strong following with 160k+ plays and several universally acclaimed maps.
Promoted Eggy Party through level and social media content following US launch, engaging players and fostering an international community.
Pushed the boundaries of the Eggy Workshop editor, creating intricate but pick-up-and-play levels like Dungeon Eggy and Eggy Party Massacre on a biweekly basis.
